You can only rename files or folders of which you are the owner. To find
out if you are the Owner on a Unix system, use the command ls -la. Equivalent
commands exist on other systems; if you are unsure of the command, ask
your system adminstrator.
To rename a file or folder, follow these steps:
Select the file or folder.
Click on the Rename button in the toolbar (File, Rename). The Rename File/Directory
dialog box displays to show you the current name and ask for the new name.
Type the new name in the New Name text box and click on OK.
If you get an “Unable to complete rename operation” error message, check
that you have entered a valid new name. Check also that you are the Owner
of the file or folder that you are trying to rename.
